Free English Classes and Vocational Training for TCF Workers
The Union runs FREE English language and reading, writing and numeracy education classes for both outworkers and factory workers who work in textile, clothing and footwear in Victoria and New South Wales.
The courses cover OH&S, Quality as well as Teamwork which help workers to communicate more effectively by developing negotiation, conflict resolution while also working towards achieving units in Certificate II or III ESL Access and the Certificate II or III in Clothing and Textile Production.
All workers are welcome. Classes cater to a range of levels from beginner to advanced. Qualified and experienced ESL and literacy teachers teach the classes and the learning environment is very supportive and relaxed.
New South Wales
The Textile Clothing and Footwear Union Australia (TCFUA) have Workplace English Language and Literacy (WELL) classes for Asian women clothing outworkers. The TCFUA and Asian Women at Work (AWatW) work together in bringing you these classes. You must be a clothing outworkers to attend these classes. All classes start on the week beginning Monday 8th February 2010. Please ring the Community Worker – Contact Person if you would like more information.
