Attention all Health and Safety Representatives

18-Sep-2012

As one of the core worker representatives in Australian workplaces, it is important that the union movement ensure the support and assistance is best targeted.  Therefore, ACTU is conducting a survey of workers’ health and safety representatives; this would include both elected health and safety representatives and workers’ representatives on health and safety committees.

The Health and Safety Survey is an on-line survey aimed at occupational health and safety representatives and workers’ representatives on health and safety committee (referred to as health and safety representatives in the rest of this document).

The health and safety survey will include data on:

  • Demographics:  Gender, Postcode, Age, union membership (with an opportunity to join)
  • Employment:  Industry, Occupation, Employment Status, Sector, Work Schedule (e.g. shift worker, etc.)
  • Management Consultation
  • Election health and safety representation
  • Type of activities undertaken as a health and safety representative
  • Training undertaken
  • Use of PINs and cease work notices

The survey is open to all workers that represent other workers on health and safety matters at the workplace.  This includes HSR, OSH Reps, ESR, etc or those that represent workers on OHS/WHS committees.

The survey will take approximately 10 minutes to complete.  Most questions are multiple-choice.

The ACTU intends to release a report based on the results of the survey.  No individual results will be reported.

The survey will be available at http://www.safeatwork.org.au/content/actu-conduct-mass-participation-occupational-health-and-safety-survey on Friday 15, September 2012 until Friday 26, October 2012.
